The memorial ceremony was held in Jiuyi Mountain, Ningyuan County, Yongzhou City on September 8, which was the second ceremony held by the provincial government since 2005. The ceremony was hosted by the Hunan Provincial government, organized by the Yongzhou Municipal government and Ningyuan County government. Mao Zhiyong, former vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the ceremony. Zhou Qiang, deputy secretary of the CPC Provincial Committee and governor of the ceremony, and Yu Laishan, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Provincial Party Committee and executive vice governor, presided over the ceremony. At 8:29 a. m., the memorial ceremony for Emperor Shun began. After firing drums and offering three animals, grains and fruits to Emperor Shun, all the staff stood up and bowed three times to the bronze statue of Emperor Shun. Later, Zhou Qianggong read the shun emperor, after reading will write the sacrificial silk in the incense burner burning, silk into curling smoke, comfort the first ancestors.
